A little bit about the area...
Lazy K Ranch is an exciting horse boarding facility located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. We are a full service equine boarding facility just 20 minutes North of Asheville. We are just across the county line from both Madison County, home of Mars Hill College, and Yancey County, home of Mt. Mitchell - the highest point East of the Mississippi River.

We are located at the base of the Coleman Boundary, also known as the Big Ivy area of the Pisgah National Forest, where there are miles of trails to enjoy. The Coleman Boundary has beautiful waterfalls, including Walker Falls and Douglas Falls - a 75' waterfall!

Enjoy year round riding conditions here in Barnardsville. The Big Ivy changes with the seasons and each season is beautiful. In the winter, while the trees are bare, the scenery and long term views are breathtaking. In the spring, wildflowers are abundant. As you enter the forest, the shade from the trees offers a relief from the heat of the summer sun, and in the fall, the colors are amazing to see. It is truly a peaceful place with lots of history.

The Coleman Boundary was used in the filming of the Last of the Mohicans. With scenes being filmed on Elk Pen trail and at Corner Rock. Come ride your horse on the same trails that were in the movie!
